Reorganizing the recipe book....

This all started later this evening when my mum suddenly started typing her recipes in her computer... and when she did i quickly asked her for my late grandmother's recipes...the ones she had anyway... the last recipe that i got from Tok was her 'inti karipap' recipe...the karipap that we made every year masa bulan puasa...and our family nye inti lain skit...we use rempah kurma instead of kari...and chunks of meat instead of minced meat...

anyway...Tok's recipe was already printed out and filed but there was something wrong with it.... i used to make fun of Tok's Nasi Dagang recipe cause it was measured in 'cupak' and 'tin laici' s (yes she measured the rice using tins that used to contain syruped lychees)...but i wasn't prepared for 'tahil' or 'hun' ???? i mean i've heared of 'gantang' and 'kati'...

so ape lagi...pak google lah jadi penolong setia....and this is what i found...

16 tahil = 1 kati
1 kati = 600 g
100 kati = 1pikul
1 pikul = 60.48 kg

1 leng = 2 kepul
1 kal = 2 leng
1 cupak = 4 kepul
1 gantang = 4 cupak
4 cupak = ± 2.8kg

seriously....  today first time dengar unit tahil tu.... is it just me or what.... after this kena cari info pasal unit lama for length plak lah...like 'ela' ke....

kuet teow kuey teow.......

ye.....saya hantu kuey teow....tp tak reti nak masak sendiri...hari tu masa balik ke nihon saya bawak kuey teow kering tu dua peket...first try macam biasa2 je la...tak de lah best mana pun....

n then the other day, saya g tgk gambar kuey teow goreng basah kat fb pn dart...ma aih  terliur...n then sampai nak tdo pun terkenang2 kuey teow goreng basah yang jual kat pasar malam sri putra tu.....

n so.....

inilah dia hasilnya....tak basah n tak de kerang....ganti ngan asari....n i know tauge dia nampak mentah....sebab memang mentah pun hahaha....i loike...hehe...n if tgk kat puncak dia tu....yes people home made cili jeruk .... cili first harvest from...jeng jeng jeng

 

si pokok cili ku..... n memandangkan dia baru  membuahkan hasil sebanyak 4 biji cili hijau je.....

 

cili jeruknya pun dapat banyak ni je lah....huhu sedey kan...tapi cukuplah memandangkan saya sorang je yang makan....nanti ada buah lagi kita buat lagi hehe

so today baru lah leh access myresipi.com tu after soooooo long server down....

and dah jumpa resipi kuey teow goreng basah yang saya sangatlah teringin nak makan ( seme sebab ari tu gi tgk pics puna dart kat fb......huhu ) but then what is kuey teow basah without the cili jeruk right....resipi tu pun dah jumpa hehe......

berakhirlah pencarian.....but just to be on the safe side i printed out 2 recipes....buat taste test n then i can proudly say i've found it.....hihi

kisah chiffon tak jadi2.....

i guess chiffon cake ni my enemy lah....i don't know why dia tak mo kembang tinggi cam yang sepatutnya...

last time i didn't asingkan the egg white from the yolks properly....so egg white dia tak berbuih n tak kental...so dia jd leper lepas bakar....

this time...i guess i didn't get the temperature right.....so my kek chiffon kurosato (supposed to be gula melaka) itu tergaring sikit...n bila terbalikkan dia pun jadi leper kat tgh...

sedey la...tp hubby kata sedap walaupun rupa tak de....huhu..sayang hubby ckp cm tu...itsumo arigatou hubby deary

day two....

today baru day two sebagai full-time housewife without hubby around and i'm already bored...
yes i know ...banyak kerja yang boleh saya bereskan tapi naka naka gak lah bosan dia....but still okay compared to bosan masa baru2 masuk lab last year...

oh and yes...today is also the second day jaga alaudin a.k.a. adik....so far so good...masing2 still learning to get used to each other... and since adik is just 1and 1/2 months old ...most of his time is spent sleeping....which accounts to me having a lot of free time....and hence me getting bored...

so the last 2 days i've been recipe hunting...going through food blogs.... and today surveying international food shops aroung the nagoya area... selama ni dok order barang from baticrom and azhar je...but they only cater to ingredients for the asian region... so now for ingredients more to the italian, mexican and other ethnic cooking....and i found a website which ships from kobe and the states....tapi pricey lah skit....

baru 2 days but so far so good...learning adik's schedule has alowed to cook mcm2...last night laksa penang and blueberry panna cotta.... today baked chicken, spinach and white sauce spaghetti and for dessert condensed milk pound cake...

esok nye menu ape plak ek...

my latest toy....

say hello to mister pasta roller....my latest toy in the kitchen... got all hyped up about ravioli... really wanted to taste the thing...but you see ...most ravioli that is sold in cans or n frozen form..is not halal...and kat jepun ni..lagi susah nak cari..

so i do what i always do...i make it myself... but i'll never know what it's really supposed to taste like lah kan..when u take the original recipe and take out the prosciutto...and alcohol...but you make do with what you can use...right...

so anyway..since i was dying to make that thing...first came the search for a round cutter...cookie cutter pun blh...tp nak cr a big sized circle cutter was not an easy chore...cr kat fukui ..then cr kat toyo..ada yang mahal je..last2 beli jugak...sekali..last weekend kat 100円 jusco to baru keluar stok....three sizes for 105円...urghhh..geram geram....hahaha...

the thing about making home made pasta is that...serious mendokusai nak roll out the dough...so i thought..why not invest in a pasta roller...saje je la usha2 kat tnet...and there it was...on sale...from 5800 to 1890...ape lagi ...beli beli...hahaha 2000 yen je...my hubby ..said beli je la...haha...and i was really proud of it too...sampai lah the night when i called up my mum for a chat... and she was like...you can get that for rm 30-40 in msia...waa waa waaaa......terus down..she had a laugh though..and i begged her not to tell dear hubby coz nanti kena gelak je.....but he overheard..so double kena gelak...hahaha..tp tak pe...i'm happy with my new toy and that's what counts...

my mum gave me some ideas too....al though i have thought of using it to roll out gyouza (potstickers) dough... she said why not use it to roll out you karipap dough...hehe....but it's the taste that counts right...so dearest hubby can't grumble bout me buying mister pasta roller...heck he might want to help me roll it out...maybe even try to figure the mechanics of the thing.....

so then comes the search for the perfect fresh pasta recipe...i had one in mind...the one my jamie oliver recipe book...tp it's a bit too ambitious for me...and some of the stuff tak tau nak cr kat mane kat fukui ni..

yesterday tnet buat pasal ...tak leh load page allrecipes...so here i am ...searching...

found one that's seems to have potential with an in-experienced pasta maker...and here it is basic pasta

hopefully it turns out nice....still thinking up ideas for the ravioli fillings though...the possibilities are endless...
